The context should guide me
But your subtle connotation
Contorts the words

For the preservation
Of our false hope
We ignore the affirmation
Of our worst fears coming true

Slowly we slide
Back into the norm
Using the guise
Of the contextual word

So we ignore the connotation
The malignance of our population
And the constant invitation
To become the same in turn

Our desperate attempts at consolation
Are lost in translation
To be interpreted as they will
